If only there were a social media platform that wasn’t so social. A platform where that allows you to share with only your inner circle.

We have just that. PhotoCircle is a mobile app that can be used for storing and sharing photos. It can also be used to create albums while also sharing them with your loved ones.

Sharing pictures on social media has always been a thing ever since platforms like Facebook and Instagram became popular. However, managing who sees your pictures and who doesn’t is a hassle. For instance, some photos that you only want to share with family may require setting changes.

Enter PhotoCircle, which not only provides a photo storage solution but also makes it easy to share albums with other users.

How Does PhotoCircle Work?

So it has a very clean and nice interface that makes it incredibly user-friendly. You have to sign up either using your email or Facebook account. PhotoCircle, by its very nature, is private and so it’s not really social media platform per se.

Once you join the app, you can start creating albums and invite others to be able to view them or add more pictures to the album. This can be done through email, text, or even a pin that stays active for 48 hours. Just share the pin with the person you want to see the album.

There aren’t any limits to the number of photos you can add to the album. Similarly, there aren’t any limits for the number of users per album.

Uploading photos from your gallery to the app is fairly easy. The whole process is very streamlined. The app has an aesthetically pleasing interface that’s anything but boring.

You’re guided through the process, so anyone not so tech-savvy can also learn to use the app in no time.

The max photo resolution is typically 2048 x 2048 pixels. You can also upload videos that are up to 10 seconds long.

Everything you upload on PhotoCircle is backed up by the cloud, which means you can access them on any device by logging into the PhotoCircle app. So it also works as cloud storage for pictures and short clips, just like iCloud, Google Drive, or Dropbox.

What Can You Use PhotoCircle For?

As a photos organization and sharing app, it can be used for organizing memorable photos. You can create wedding albums, engagement albums, newborn albums, birthday albums, graduation albums, vacation albums, and pet albums.

One of the biggest advantages of using PhotoCircle is that other people can also add photos to your albums. This comes in handy when all the group can share photos in one place for everyone to see and download, rather than sending everyone individually.

For instance, you can create an album for your birthday party, and all your friends can upload the pictures they took. That way, everyone can exchange pictures easily.

It’s also ideal for those who want to share pictures privately. Although it’s possible to share pictures with restricted people on Facebook, this app makes it very easy to do that as it’s not public.

Since it’s cloud-based, it reloads albums automatically, so as soon as someone adds new pictures, they go on everyone’s accounts who have the access.

What Can Improve?

PhotoCircle is a great app with an even better interface. However, some users have complained about the ads. Since advertisements are the main source of revenue for the app, they do tend to appear very often.

This can be annoying at times. Perhaps, the makers of the app can introduce a paid add-removing feature.

Another reported flaw is that it doesn’t save metadata of the photo, so they only get sorted by the date they were uploaded to the app.

Is There a Desktop Version?

Sadly, there isn’t a desktop or web version of the app, unlike Google Drive or Dropbox. However, you can access the Android app on PC by using the Bluestacks emulator.

With Bluestacks, you can download and run virtually any Android app, even on a PC or Mac. So once you’ve installed Bluestacks on your computer, just download Photo Circle for PC (APK file). You can also get it from the Play Store in the emulator, after all, it runs just like an Android device.

Then you can log in with the same account you use on the mobile for PhotoCircle and access the albums you have created, and others have shared with you. This way, you can also download and save the pictures to your computer.

Final Thoughts

PhotoCircle is a user-friendly photo-sharing app that makes it easy to share pictures privately with your inner circle. You can use it to organize photos into neat albums. Although there’s no desktop version, you can still use it with an Android emulator.

It does have its shortcomings, but for a free app, it’s great!
